A new year of "theatricational" fun and exploration is about to begin for children and youth aged 3-18.  

The New York State Theatre Institute's annual open house during which parents and prospective students can meet the faculty, ask questions and participate in sample activities will be held September 12, 2009 from 10:00 AM - Noon at the Schacht Fine Arts Center on the campus of Russell Sage College in Troy. 

Classes begin September 26 (no classes September 19).

SATURDAY WORKSHOPS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE:

Creative Dramatics 
A one-hour class held Saturdays (at 10:00 AM 3-5 year olds, or 11:00 AM. 6-8 year olds), designed to channel the very young student's imagination in constructive, interactive activities that emphasize self-expression. Tuition: $150. per semester. 

Introduction to Theatre Fundamentals
During this one and a half hour class, students explore character development, acting technique, vocal expression, and movement in an environment that fosters self-esteem and self-expression. For ages 7-8; tuition is $200 per semester. 
Theatre Skills Workshop is a three-hour workshop that meets Saturdays from 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. The workshop consists of three classes (an hour for each class) in acting, movement, and voice. The workshops focus on improving the performer’s body, mind, and voice through theatre games, improvisation, and character development. For ages 8-12; tuition is $300. per semester. 

Performance Skills Workshop 
Students are grouped by age and experience, with the focus on preparation of scripted materials, vocal selections, and choreography. These three-hour workshops (1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M.) culminate in an informal staged presentation. For ages 13-18; tuition is $300. per semester. 

Production Workshop 
(Experienced Theatre Arts School students only) This two-semester workshop is a four-hour weekly program of acting, movement and voice requiring a serious, full school-year commitment by the student. The focus of the Production Workshop is the creation and development of original works culminating in a stage production in the spring. Tuition: $700. per year.
