Our Own ProductionS, Inc. will present the musical SPRING AWAKENING in the Hart Theatre at the Empire State Performing Arts Center at The Egg.Based on the controversial 19th century play by German playwright Frank Wedekind, SPRING AWAKENING’s music is written by Duncan Sheik with book/lyrics by Steven Sater.
 
This production received 6 awards from the Theater Association of NY State (TANYS).
Excellence in Direction to Matthew T. Teichner
Excellence in Musical Direction to Matthew Streifert
Excellence in Vocal Performance to the Cast
Excellence in Costume Design to Susan Preiss
Excellence in Performace to Nick Muscatiello for his portrayal of Moritz
Outstanding Choreography to Gregory Theodore Marsh

Performances will be held July 18th-20th, with shows at 8:00 PM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, along with a 2:00 PM matinee performance on Saturday afternoon.

The production is being directed and designed (Lighting and Set Design) by Matthew T. Teichner who helmed the company’s multiple award winning production of RENT in 2011 (winner of Best Musical for 2011 in the Times Union Reader’s Poll).Joining the team are Matthew Streifert as musical director (Mark from 2011’s RENT) and Gregory Theodore Marsh as choreographer.
 
SPRING AWAKENING opened on Broadway in December of 2006 and won 8 Tony Awards including best musical, and 3 Drama Desk Awards.
 
This new and groundbreaking production of this popular show features a fresh new look with costumes designed by Susan Preiss with the assistance of and supplied, in part, by the landmark store Trash & Vaudeville on St. Mark’s Place in New York City.Trash and Vaudeville supplied costumes for such Broadway shows as Green Day’s American Idiot, Rock of Ages, and RENT (New World Stages), to name just a few.
 
The production’s overall look, stellar cast, and surprise elements will certainly make this the most spectacular theatrical event ever seen on stage in the Capital District.
