A three-week developmental residency at Catskill’s Bridge Street Theatre,
funded by the New York State Council on the Arts, culminates on the evening
of February 23 in a free public performance by It’s Showtime NYC! of an
excerpt from the piece they’re currently creating called “Pyramid”. The
group’s residency will also feature student workshops and an open rehearsal.

New Yorkers are, by nature, archaeologists. Be it graffiti, hieroglyphics,
or freestyle dance on the street, lived stories are shared to those willing
to pause and take in the messages. Commissioned by Works & Process at the
Guggenheim, “Pyramid” features It's Showtime NYC! (a program of the
non-profit organization Dancing in the Streets), a dance company and
professional development program featuring street and subway dancers from
NYC, in collaboration with composer and cellist Johnathan “Akuma” Moore.
Some of the group’s past performances include Works & Process at the
Guggenheim, a collaboration with the NY Philharmonic, Summerstage,
Barclay's Center, the Apollo and The Shed. It’s Showtime NYC! was nominated
for a 2020 Bessie Award for Outstanding Breakout Choreographer.
Participants in this Bridge Street Theatre residency include Calvin “Cal”
Hunt (choreographer, Artistic and Program Director of It’s Showtime NYC!),
Johnathan “Akuma” Moore, (cellist, composer, bonebreaker/flexN dancer), and
dancers and co-choreographers Aubrey “Ski” Primus, Tyrik “Blank” Johnson,
Jamil ”Stein” Aleem, Nazier “Bless” Morales, Quinn “Qu” Brown and Drew
“Jumbie” Smart.

This free, in-process performance excerpt from “Pyramid” will be presented
on Bridge Street Theatre’s “Priscilla” Mainstage for one night only –
Friday February 23 at 7:30pm. The theatre is located at 44 West Bridge
Street in Catskill, NY. Tickets are free, but since the theatre’s capacity
is small (just 84 seats), reservations are strongly recommended. For
additional information and to reserve seats, visit bridgest.org/pyramid/
