Set at a party on the deck of a beach house in Connecticut, this comedy-drama brings together three generations of women, including one grandmother who has flown, for the first time, from the Canadian prairie. When the youngest member of the company announces that she has decided to forgo studies at Yale, the three older women try to change her mind by recalling their own pasts, as well as the accumulated wisdom of their years. Critics have described the play as “an oasis of insight and honesty” and “elegant and eloquent theatre.”
