as they bring their remarkable talent together for the first time at the <span

has a keen interest in history and the passing of culture from generation to
generation. His songs are both traditional and contemporary in a style
that is both Celtic and American with strong bluegrass roots. He is a
warm and comfortable performer with a story to tell and a gift for the
telling. Allen began his musical life at the age of 11 as a classical
violinist in various chamber orchestras and ensembles, one of which performed
at <span id="lw_1242156635_7"><span class=yshortcuts>Carnegie Hall</span></span>.
This may account, in part, for the incredible expressiveness of his
playing. Eventually he experimented with jazz and pop music and then
turned to <span id="lw_1242156635_8"><span class=yshortcuts>folk music</span></span>
with the flavor of his Irish heritage. Both Jed and Allen are known for
perpetuating the <span id="lw_1242156635_9"><span class=yshortcuts>music of the
Civil War</span></span> era and have appeared in several <span
style='background-position-x:0%;background-position-y:
0%;background-attachment:
scroll;cursor:hand' id="lw_1242156635_10"><span class=yshortcuts>Civil War films</span></span>.
