<br>Oscar Wilde's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, A TRIVIAL COMEDY FOR SERIOUS PEOPLE tells the tale of would-be Victorian socialites who construct fake identities to escape obligations while simultaneously searching for their own true selves. The lampooning of Victorian social mores, romance, and nepotism has proved to be Wilde's most during work despite it heralding the end of his career and life as a free man in British society.<br>
