The fathers, Hucklebee and Bellomy, stage a neighborly feud so that the two teenagers will fall in love on their own terms instead of being forced into an arranged marriage. The fathers hire actors and plan an elaborate abduction of Luisa. Just as it seems the parents' scheme will work, the teenagers learn the secret and a series of conflicts arise.
