PRESENT THEIR THIRTEENTH PANTO AT THE GHENT PLAYHOUSE THIS NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER.</p>

<div class="MsoNormal">Ghent, NY — This year’s Panto at The Ghent Playhouse will be
<b>“Robin Hood<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Fifty Shade of
Green.”</b><span style="font-weight:normal"><span style="mso-spacerun:
yes"> </span>This year marks the thirteenth production by the zany troupe
of local actors known as The PantoLoons.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>Now a tradition, the Panto opens on Friday, November 23<sup>rd</sup>
(the day after Thanksgiving) and runs through Sunday, December 9<sup>th</sup>.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays
at 2 p.m. with a special added matinee at 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 24<sup>th</sup>.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Tickets are $18 each, $15 for Friends
of the Ghent Playhouse and $10 for children under 12 years.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">The story of Robin Hood is well known. Robin and his men rob
the rich to give to the poor and downtrodden.<span style="mso-spacerun:
yes"> </span>In this time of financial upheaval, the need for relief, and
the increasing gap between the haves and the have-nots, this seemed a good
story to choose. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">Robin and his Merry Men live in the greenwood of Sherwood
Forest, helping those down on their luck and trying to outwit the dastardly
Sheriff of Nottingham and his Barons.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">Of course they succeed!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">This year, those men in green will be played by Cathy
Lee-Visscher as Robin Hood, Michael Meier as Little John, Paul Leyden as Alan a
Dale and Joanne Maurer as Much the Miller’s Son.<span style="mso-spacerun:
yes"> </span>Joining the band in the forest as Friar Tuck is Judy Staber
and Paul Murphy as a man living rough.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>Johnna Murray is Maid Marion and Monk Schane-Lydon, her maid Maude
Lynne. </div>

<div class="MsoNormal">Sally McCarthy is the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham (playing
a bad guy for the first time in 13 years), Tom Detwiler, his mother the
Baroness Dona Trumpet, and Matthew Coviello as the bad Baron Getrich.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">The PantoLoons all participate in various stages of the
production.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Tom Detwiler doubles
as director, Paul Leyden is music director, Judy Staber writes the script,
Joanne Maurer designs and executes the costumes. Bill Camp is Stage Manager and
lighting designer and everyone helps to get the set together. Each cast member
writes lyrics and adds wit to the script as rehearsals proceed.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>This year the Loons welcome two new
cast members, Michael Meier and Matthew Coviello, both seen previously on the
Ghent Stage.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">For years The Panto has been a British holiday tradition. As
a child, writer Judy Staber went to a Panto every Christmas. These fondly
remembered Pantos included the cross-dressing Dame (a man) and Principal Boy (a
woman) and, of course, jokes, songs, slapstick, chases, and lots of audience
participation with “It’s behind you!” and “Oh, no I’m not – Oh, yes you
are!”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>The PantoLoons have developed
their own form of an American Panto over the years and it has now become a
Columbia County tradition.<o:p></o:p></div>
