25<sup>th</sup> Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee</span></p>

<div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Arial">The Ghent Playhouse will
present “The 25<sup>th</sup> Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” as its final
production of the 2012-2013 season. <span style="color:#1A1A1A"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>A musical comedy conceived by Rebecca
Feldman with music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin and
additional material by Jay Reiss, it was initially developed by Barrington
Stage Company. Originally </span>directed by James Lapine in 2004, this little
musical garnered six Tony awards and ran for several years on Broadway before
going on tour. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Arial"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Helvetica">The show centers on a
fictional <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spelling_bee"><span style="color:windowtext;text-decoration:none;text-underline:none">spelling bee</span></a>
set in the fictitious Putnam Valley Middle School. </span><span style="font-family:Arial">Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen
by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that
winning isn’t everything and losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>The 25<sup>th</sup> Annual Putnam
County Spelling Bee is an hilarious tale of overachievers’ angst chronicling
the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship
of a lifetime. The production is being directed by Rachael Sheffer, who
recently worked at the Playhouse as assistant director on the hit production of
“Urinetown.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
