the play is set in 1959 in a military retirement home in France, where three
World War I veterans spend their days joking, bickering, and generally
irritating and entertaining one another. In their youth, they experienced
thrilling adventures, but now, seemingly trapped, they can only contemplate one
last great escapade, whether it proves to be a trip to Indochina or just a
