It features newly-commissioned short plays by established and emerging playwrights, exploring issues of censorship, boycotting and freedom of expression in the UK arts today.<br>
<br>
The plays were first performed in a flagship production hosted by Theatre Delicatessen in London, 26th January-1st February 2015.<br>
<br>
The plays were written in response to 3 major events of boycott and censorship in the UK theatre world in 2014:<br>
<br>
- The Jewish Film Festival refusing to hold the event at the Tricycle Theatre in London after being challenged on receive funding from the Israeli State.<br>
- The cancellation of a Hip Hop Opera by Israeli state-funded company Incubator<br>
Theatre at the Underbelly during the Edinburgh Festival due to pressure from<br>
pro-Palestinian protestors. <br>
- The cancellation of Exhibit B at the Barbican in Edinburgh due to pressure from anti-racism campaigners.<br>
<br>
<em>Walking the Tightrope</em> was created in response to these events.<br>

<em>Theatre Uncut </em>was created to get people thinking, talking and taking action on the events that are happening in the world around them.<br>

The idea is simple. Playwrights from a selection of countries are asked to write brand new short plays in response to their current political situation. These scripts are then made available for anyone to perform anywhere for a limited period.<br>

<em>Theatre Uncut </em>plays have been performed by over 3,000 people in 17 countries across four continents and contributing writers include Mark Ravenhill, Lucy Kirkwood and Neil LaBute.<br>
