line-height: 100%;">Widely considered one of Brian Friel’s greatest
works, directed by Brian Sheldon, ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’ is an Irish
Memory Play, recounted by Michael (Michael Schafer) the love-child of
the youngest of five unmarried sisters. Situated in the fictional Irish
town of Ballybeg in the autumn of 1936, the story tells of the upheaval
caused by the return of Michael’s father, Gerry, (Steven McCauley Jr.)
and of Jack, (Joe Phillips) the family’s brother, who has just returned
from missionary work in Uganda, where he has left his health and his
faith behind. As the harvest festival of Lughnasa approaches, the five
sisters, Kate, (Michou Grogan) Maggie, (Laura Darling) Agnes, (Monica
Bradley) Rose, (Katie Weinberg-Coons) and Chris, (Heather-Liz Copps)
must pull closer to dance together one last time, before the autumnal
fires die, and winter comes upon them all. </p>
