A Cabaret Celebratation of New Year’s Eve –
and a Fitting End to a “Beast of a Year”

Byron Nilsson and Malcolm Kogut once again bring the year to a
close cabaret-style, with their third annual appearance at
Albany’s Steamer No. 10 Theatre. The show is titled “A Beast of a
Year,” and features a mix of comedy and (comic) song. The second
half of the program features the beasts that rule our lives – the
zodiac – with a performance of P.D.Q. Bach’s “Twelve Quite
Heavenly Songs,” for which Nilsson and Kogut are joined by guest
artist Timothy Reno in the bargain-counter tenor role.

Also on tap are songs from the bestiary of Flanders & Swann,
risqué numbers about felines and fish, and an entertaining
procession of other funny and nearly forgotten numbers. If you’re
looking for Albany’s First Night, this is it. In fact, Byron and
Malcolm were part of that city’s first First Night, for whatever
that’s worth..

Tickets are a mere $15 – you’ll spend more on champagne if you
know what’s good for you – and the show finishes early enough to
send you back out into the cold to find a real party to spend the
night with. Call Steamer No. 10 at 518-438-5503 to reserve
tickets, or go to www.steamer10theatre.org.
