Unless the year was 2023, in which case you’ll want to kick it smartly on the butt as it goes out the door. Find your support in this cause in the songs offered by Byron Nilsson and Malcolm Kogut, who are old hands by now at this killing-off-the-old-year stuff. </p><p><br /></p><p>This will be their seventh New Year’s Eve show at Steamer No.10 Theatre, but they go back to the first Albany First Night celebration in1986. Albany gave up on it, but they haven’t, so you’re encouraged to finish this year with some laughs, thanks to a program of songs by some of the wittiest writers of such material. Treat yourself to the amazing wordplay of Flanders & Swann, the timeless (and savage) topicality of Tom Lehrer, the sardonic wit of Noël Coward, and much, much more, as interpreted by Byron Nilsson with his longtime pianist and musical director, Malcolm Kogut.
