<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal"><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Trebuchet MS','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt">“Into the Woods”</SPAN></I><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Trebuchet MS','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt"> is an award winning musical. It debuted in San Diego at the Old Globe Theatre in 1986, and premiered on Broadway in 1987. It won several Tony Awards including Best Score, Best Book and Best Actress in a Musical (Joanna Gleason). Inspired by Bruno Bettelheim’s 1976 book, <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">The Uses of Enchantment</I>, the musical takes portions of the plots of a number of the Brothers’ Grimm Fairy Tales and follows them, exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Trebuchet MS','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt">Though <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">“Into the Woods”</I> is a community theater favorite, it is the very first time that it will be staged by Spotlight Players. Melissa Lacijan, however, is not a “first-timer” having directed the much loved and successful “Guys and Dolls” in the summer of 1995. She is returning to direct this show with boundless excitement and enthusiasm. “I have been hoping for an opportunity to direct <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">“Into the Woods”</I> for many years. Its timeless messages and beautiful score will make this a real labor of love”, said Melissa Lacijan when asked about this new project.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
