<DIV><BR>The Producers<BR>Auditions: Monday April 6 and Wednesday April 8<BR>Columbia High School Auditorium<BR>962 Luther Road<BR>East Greenbush, NY 12061<BR>7 PM Sign In<BR> <BR>Michael Mensching, Director, 477-2256<BR> <BR>Spotlight Players Community Theater, Inc. announces auditions for their summer musical, the Capital <BR>District Community Theater premiere of The Producers.The Producers is a comedy-musical adapted by <BR>Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan from Brooks' 1968 film of the same name, with lyrics by Brooks and <BR>music by Brooks and Glen Kelly. As in the film, the story concerns two theatrical producers who scheme to <BR>get rich by overselling interests in a Broadway flop. Complications arise when the show unexpectedly turns <BR>out to be successful. The humor of the show is accessible to a wide range of audiences, and draws on <BR>ridiculous accents, over the top caricatures of homosexuals and Nazis, and many show business
in-jokes. <BR>The musical opened on April 19, 2001 and ran for 2,502 performances, winning a record-breaking 12 <BR>Tony Awards.<BR> <BR>Roles: This is a large cast show with over 20 people cast in various roles, ages 16—70. There are many <BR>ensemble and richly comedic featured roles, including ethnic roles, older roles, dancers and an extensive <BR>use of the chorus.<BR> <BR>Please come prepared for a vocal audition of 32 bars from a Broadway Musical, preferably from the show, <BR>but not required. There will be no a cappella singing. An accompanist will be provided. There will be a <BR>reading audition. There will be a choreography audition, please come prepared to dance. <BR> <BR>Performances are scheduled for July 23-25, 29—31 and August 1.<BR> <BR>Auditions are at the Columbia High School Auditorium, 962 Luther Road, East Greenbush, NY 12061<BR>Call the Director at 477-2256 with any
