theme by Anton Diabelli – an act that has baffled musicologists for centuries.
In 33 Vairations, present-day musicologist Katherine Brandt attempts to unravel
Beethoven’s towering obsession. As her journey progresses, her own

to get to know. Guarded,in part because she has is dealing - or not dealing--
with the loss of her mother. Her mother considers her an underachiever, which
is at the center of their conflict. Struggles with intimacy, but is tryimg to keep
it together. Has been unsuccessful with romance because of the difficulty of
showing her vulnerable side. Has a hard time getting close to her mother for
they are two sides of the same coin (but they don't know it -- yet). The real
story of 33 Variations is the development of a truly meaningful mother-daughter
relationship.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

Diabelli is content to dabble. Where Beethoven forgets to eat, Diabelli enjoys
every bite. Ruled by popular appeal. It's not that he's a bad composer because
he can be quite good, but he's the Andrew Lloyd Webber to Beethoven's John
Cage.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

Brandt's work, but respects her passion and drive. Would like to protect
everyone from the realty of Dr. Brandt's illness, but is forced to be the
messenger of bad news. A good guy. Clara can't believe he's for real, but he

friend to Beethoven. Gertrude's counterpart. He's the guy you have to get
through at every front desk of an important person. He appears formidable, but
he's got a big heart and loads of respect for Beethoven. He's funny in a very
dry way.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
