Ferlo (Director) will graduate from Ballston Spa High
School in June and is very proud and excited to be directing Alice in
Wonderland Jr. She began her theatrical journey in first grade and hasn't
let up since. She's been involved in numerous productions in the community as
well as at Ballston Spa High School. Some of her favorites include Annie;
Annie, Edwina; Dear Edwina Jr., Ms. Hasler, The Pajama
Game, Bet; Oliver!, Jo March; Little Women, Mrs. Potts;
Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella; Into the Woods, and Fay
Apple; Anyone Can Whistle. In fifth grade, Heather was given the
opportunity to work with the acclaimed company Music Theatre International
(MTI) in New York City. With enormous support from her family, she was able to
take part in a considerable number of experiences. She started with the
Broadway Jr. Workshop of Alice in Wonderland, and later, Beauty
and the Beast. She also attended the gala opening of the family theater
at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and the Broadway Jr. Festival in
Atlanta, GA as a member of the "Broadway Jr. All-Stars." Earlier this year she
had the pleasure of working a full-time internship with the New York
State Theatre Institute. During her time there she learned many trades of the
theatre (including lighting for the stage, sound design, costuming, stage
managing, producing, publicity, acting, auditioning, and scenery
construction). She gained a great appreciation for the number of hands and
amount of talent that is required to make this art form truly special. She has
been taking piano lessons at The Music Studio in Albany from Noel Liberty for
eleven years. In addition to her piano studies, Heather has privately studied
voice with Anne Agresta Dugan for the past four years. Heather will be
attending The Crane School of Music this fall and will pursue a degree in
Music Education and a concentration in Music for Special Education with hopes
to eventually earn a degree in Music Therapy. Heather firmly believes that the
theatre is a very important outlet, especially for young people, that will
help them to learn more about themselves and how they interact with others.
This camp will allow students to expand their knowledge of the art and
appreciate teamwork at its finest.
