<br>THE MARQUIS DE MERTEUIL - The toast of all socialite Paris, considered wise and chaste, but has had more lovers than most professionals.  The Marquis tends to enjoy intrigue above all things...<br><br>THE VICOMTE DE VALMONT - A rich playboy, who was at one time the Marquis de Merteuil's lover and confidant... Valmont is a manipulator of affections...<br>
<br>LES PRESIDENTE DE TOURVEL - The chaste and religious wife of a member of Parliament.  She is seduced by and falls in love with the Vicomte de Valmont...<br><br>CECILE VOLANGES - A young girl, fresh out of the convent who is preyed upon by Merteuil and Valmont...<br>
<br>MADAME VOLANGES - The mother of Cecile, who arranges an advantageous marriage for her daughter and lives a respectable life...<br><br>THE CHAVALIER DANCENY - The singing and harp teacher of Cecile Volanges.  The Chevalier Danceny becomes the pet of the Marquis de Merteuil and the student of Valmont.<br>
