Reale, based on the books by Arnold Lobel, directed by Shannon Rafferty.
Open call auditions will be held in Troy on Monday, March 26th, beginning at 3pm at the
Schacht Fine Arts Center Theater, on the Russell Sage College Campus.
Audition Requirements: Please prepare 32 bars of
an up-tempo musical theater song exhibiting vocal
range and character. Bring sheet music in the
correct key. Accompanist available, but may not
transpose. Please bring a recent headshot and
resume, stapled back-to-back. All characters need
to move well. Dancing is a plus. Please bring
comfortable shoes as you may be asked to stay and
dance.
ALL ROLES AVAILABLE.
SEEKING:
FROG - male, confident, good-natured, the natural
leader of the friendship, able to accept life as
it comes to him. Strong, charismatic lead role,
balancing both jazz numbers and ballads. Voice:
light, pleasant baritone. However, one song sits
around high G# and A.
TOAD - male, anxious, neurotic, a tad awkward, but
with a very big heart. Manages to turn small
incidents into ordeals by caring just a little too
much. Meaty comic lead role with LOTS of singing.
Voice: Character voice, but pleasant. Mid-range
but also needs to be comfortable with high E on
staff.
MALE TRACK - plays the parts of Bird, Snail,
Lizard, Father Frog, Large and Terrible Frog and
Mole. Almost ALWAYS on stage, very high energy,
versatile comic supporting role. Voice: Must be
secure with tight harmonies. Rich, bluesey,
show-stopping middle but with a high G#.
FEMALE TRACK 1 - plays the parts of Bird, Turtle,
Squirrel, Mother Frog and Mole. Bossy, sarcastic,
a bit of an instigator, versatile comic supporting
role. Voice: Must be secure with tight harmonies.
Mid-range with a high A as Mother Frog.
FEMALE TRACK 2 - plays the parts of Bird, Mouse,
Squirrel, Young Frog and Mole. Plucky,
inquisitive, versatile comic supporting role.
Voice: Must be secure with tight harmonies. Alto
with a low F up to a high F.
Rehearsals begin May 14th followed by previews
and performances June 1-17th.
10AM: June 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15
2PM: June 2, 3, 10, 17
