7:30PM. There is no need to make an appointment. There is no need to prepare a
monologue. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. </div>

introvert who makes jokes nobody gets. For the first time in a great

color:black;"> Late fifties, early sixties. A hearty, garrulous
extrovert who loves telling stories, she is frightened by too much quiet.
In her heart of hearts, Jessie is still "hers".</span></div>

<div class="yiv6327925765MsoNormal">Jessie's father is dead; her loveless marriage ended in
divorce; her absent son is a petty thief and ne'er-do-well; her last job didn't
work out; she lives with her mother; and in general her life is stale and
unprofitable.<span style=""> </span>As the play begins Jessie
asks for her father's service revolver and calmly announces she intends to kill
herself. At first her mother refuses to take her seriously, but as Jessie sets
about tidying the house her sense of desperate helplessness begins to build.
The play builds to a moment never to be forgotten by those who have witnessed,
and come to understand, her plight.</div>
