<div>Town Players of Pittsfield announces that auditions for a staged reading of <em>Trifles,</em> directed by Karel Fisher, will be held on September 15 and 16
from 6:30 to 8:00 PM upstairs at the Whitney Center for the Arts<em>, </em>42 Wendell Avenue in Pittsfield. The assistant director is Tom Gardner.<br>

<div><em>Trifles,</em> <em> </em>Susan Glaspell's 1916 play based on
an actual murder case of a Midwestern farmer, focuses on the clues
(trifles) missed by men investigating the crime, but apparent to two women
piecing together the isolated life of the accused, the mistreated farmer's
wife.</div>

<div>Needed for the cast are three men (mid-40s to mid-60s), 2 women (same age
range) and a narrator, </div>
<div>male
or female of any age with a strong public-speaking voice.<br>

This staged reading will be performed on October 16 at the Whitney
Center for the Arts and then repeated at Naumkeag, 5 Stockbridge Rd.
in Stockbridge on October 19. </div>
