Have you ever been tempted to flee your
own life? Becky Foster is caught in middle age, middle management
and in a middling marriage—with no prospects for change on the
horizon. Then one night a socially inept and grief-struck
millionaire stumbles into the car dealership where Becky works.
Becky is offered nothing short of a new life…and the audience is
offered a chance to ride shotgun in a way that most plays wouldn’t
dare. BECKY’S NEW CAR is a thoroughly original comedy with serious
overtones, a devious and delightful romp down the road not taken.

Characters:

Becky Foster (late 40s-mid 50s): The central character of the
story. Charming, funny, engaging, honest, charismatic. A
hardworking wife and mother. Actress playing Becky must be very
comfortable breaking the fourth wall and interacting with the
audience.

Joe Foster (late 40s-mid 50s): Becky’s husband, a roofer. He is
strong, pragmatic, honest, sharper than he looks, and a loyal
family man with a big heart.

Chris Foster (mid-late 20s): Becky’s and Joe’s son. He lives in
the basement. He is a graduate student studying psychology. He is
smart, funny, easy-going, yet passionate.

Walter Flood (mid 50s-mid 60s): A very wealthy businessman
recently widowed. He is charming, friendly, gentle, and a bit out
of touch, especially when it comes to members of the opposite sex.

Kensington (Kenni) Flood (mid-late 20s): Walter’s daughter. She
is pretty, cynical, smart, and sophisticated.

Steve (mid 40s-mid 50s): A recently widowed car salesman who
works with Becky. He is emotionally needy and searching to fill
the huge void left by the loss of his wife. He’s a bit of a
nebbish, but a good guy.

Ginger (mid 40s-mid 50s): Walter’s single neighbor who has
recently lost all of her money and the things that go along with
it. She is jaded, funny, honest, and lonely…and on the prowl.
