<div dir="ltr"><span style="color:rgb(20,24,35);font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px;line-height:18.7600002288818px">Coach House Players concludes our 65th Anniversary Season with George Bernard Shaw's classic: <i>Pygmalion</i>.</span><br style="color:rgb(20,24,35);font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px;line-height:18.7600002288818px"><br style="color:rgb(20,24,35);font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px;line-height:18.7600002288818px"><span style="color:rgb(20,24,35);font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px;line-height:18.7600002288818px">Phonetics Professor Henry Higgins makes a bet with a fellow working acquaintance that he could transform a cockney, working class flower girl into a respectable woman, worthy of upper class status. Higgins tutors the very Cockney Eliza Doolittle, not only in the refinement of speech, but also in the refinement of her manner. When the end result produces a very ladylike Miss Doolittle, the lessons learned become much more far reaching. E</span><span class="" style="display:inline;color:rgb(20,24,35);font-family:helvetica,arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px;line-height:18.7600002288818px">nglish Accent. <br>Kind of wealthy but family's on the decline, and clueless. Tries to act the role of a modern, advanced young person.<br><br><b>Mrs. Eynsford-Hill</b> (The Mother) - F: <br>Late 30s to Mid 50s. English Accent. <br>A lady of the upper-middle class who is in a rather impoverished condition but is still clinging to her gentility. Clean, well-dressed and well-spoken.<br><br><b>The Bystander </b>- M or F: <br>30s to 60s. Cockney Accent<br><br><b>Freddie Eynsford-Hill</b> (The Son) - M: <br>Early 20s. English Accent. <br>Pleasant young man who is enchanted by Eliza upon first meeting her. Possible love interest for Eliza Doolittle.<br><br><b>Eliza Doolittle</b> (The Flower Girl) - F: <br>Early 20s. Principle Character. Must have both Cockney and Proper English Accents. <br>Poor girl from the streets who turns out to be a brilliant, beautiful young woman. Smart, independent and fiesty. An uneducated, uncouth "guttersnipe," the flower girl whom Professor Henry Higgins decides to mold into a duchess.<br><br><b>Colonel Hugh Pickering</b> (The Gentleman) - M: <br>60s to 70s. Principle Character. Must have Proper English Accent.<br>Amiable military type. A distinguished retired officer, he is courteous and polite to Eliza, and he shares in Higgins' experiments in phonetics in teaching Eliza to speak as a duchess. He is the good cop to Higgins' bad cop.<br><br><b>Professor Henry Higgins</b> (The Note-Taker) - M:<br>Principle Character. Must have impeccable English Accent. <br>A famous linguist. A bachelor who specializes in phonetics and who is an acclaimed authority on the subject of dialects, accents, and phonetics. His manner varies from genial bullying when he is in good humor to stormy petulance when anything goes wrong; but he is so entirely frank and void of malice that he remains likable even in his least reasonable moments.<br><br><b>Sarcastic Bystander</b> - M or F:<br>Any age. Cockney accent.<br><br><b>Taxi Man</b> - M:<br>Any age. Cockney accent.<br><br><b>Mrs. Pearce</b> (Higgins' Housekeeper) - F:<br>40s to 60s. English Accent.<br>She is the first one who sees the difficulty of what is to happen to Eliza after Higgins and Pickering have finished their experiment with her. She is a voice of reason. She watches out for Eliza from the beginning and is used to dealing with Henry Higgins.<br><br><b>Alfred P. Doolittle</b> (Eliza's Father) - M:<br>Principle Character. Must have strong Cockney Accent.<br>Elderly but vigorous "Dustman."<br>A smooth-talking serial monogamist; a drunk and a deadbeat dad. Proudly believes in his position as a member of the "undeserving poor."<br><br><b>Mrs. Higgins</b> (Henry's Mother) - F:<br>60+. English Accent.<br>Once a young, intelligent, independent woman with progressive ideas. Now only older, she is a Class Act who can deal with Henry, she thoroughly loves her son but also thoroughly disapproves of his manners, his language, and his social behavior.<br><br><b>The Parlor Maid</b> (Also an "Extra" from Act One) - F:<br>Any age. English or light Cockney Accent.<br><br><b>Nepommuck</b> (aka "Whiskers," Henry Higgins' former student) - M:<br>30s to 40s.
