Schenectady. Sign-up beginning at 7 pm. Roles for 8 men and 1 woman.<br><br><font color="#cc3300" size="4"><i>(Performance
dates --- January 29 through February 7, 2016)</i></font><br><br><font size="4"><i>London,
1879.</i></font><i> The prestigious Explorers Club is in crisis: their
acting president wants to admit a woman, and their bartender is
terrible. True, this female candidate is brilliant, beautiful, and has
discovered a legendary Lost City, but the decision to let in a woman
could shake the very foundation of the British Empire. Grab your
safety goggles for some very mad science involving deadly cobras,
irate Irishmen and the occasional airship.</i><br><br><font size="4">Cast:</font>
These characters can be cast from any age range between 20 and 60. The
Irish Assassin has half a paragraph of dialog that will need an Irish
accent. The rest of the cast, except Luigi, will require an English
accent.<br><br><font size="4">Lucius Fretway:</font> botanist/man of
science, president pro tempore of Explorers<br>Club, second banana to
Harry Percy , timid in life but passionate about plants<br>and
Phyllida Spotte-Hume. He pines for her romantically. Will he end up her<br>best
friend instead?<br><br><font size="4">Phyllida Spotte</font>—Hume:
daring explorer and anthropologist, the object of desire<br>of both
Lucius Fretway and Harry Percy. This actress will also portray Countess<br>Glamorgan,
Phyllida’s twin.<br><br><font size="4">Harry Percy:</font>
intrepid explorer, robust and manly, full of himself (sees himself<br>as
the group’s alpha male), president of Explorers club, more surface
than depth<br>to his character<br><br><font size="4">Luigi: </font>tribesman
from lost city of Pahatlabong, ideally shirtless and painted<br>blue,
speaks Pahatalabong and broken English, physical comedy required.<br><br><font size="4">Professor
Cope:</font> herpetologist, carries a (fake) snake during the show,<br>unassuming,
best friends with Professor Walling, methodical and linear in his<br>thought
process.<br><br><font size="4">Professor Sloane:</font>
archeo-theologist, sarcastic and prim in manner, the oldest of<br>the
five club members, disdainful of women<br><br><font size="4">Professor
Walling:</font> zoologist, carries a (fake) guinea pig for much of the
show,<br>bumbling and good natured, best friends with Professor Cope,
becomes emotional<br>when misfortune befalls his guinea pig<br><br>Sir
Bernard Humphries: private secretary to Queen Victoria, career
politician,<br>puffed up and officious.<br><br><font size="4">Beebe:</font>
explorer, ‘lost’ companion of Percy, tells a hellish tale of his<br>abandonment
among angry Tibetan monks (also plays Irish Assassin)<br><br># # # # #
