He often writes letters to her-- his way of dealing with the death and his remorse for not succeeding in 'joining her'. For 6 years, she has struggled with anxiety, depression, ocd, panic disorder, and ptsd. Between the ages of 6 and 10, she was molested by her grandfather’s partner, but has no memory of him whatsoever since he died. Because of this, it is difficult for her to be intimate with anyone. The triggering event that led to her to needing treatment involved a college professor trying to take advantage of her. As a little girl, she was sex-trafficked and since then, has difficulty understanding what happened to her. With limited speech and cognitive processing skills, her only way of expressing her trauma is through her constant obsession with “freeing the slaves”. He is insensitive to people’s privacy and takes pride in enforcing even the pettiest of rules.
