THEATER SKILLS FOR YOUNG ACTORS<br>Saturdays 10 AM – 1 PM<br>Feb 27-Apr 16, 2016<br>$250<br>Ages 11-15</span></p><p style="border: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 2rem; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Open to middle and high school students age 11 to 15, this “Acting 101″ class covers the basics of stage performance: movement, presence, speaking technique, expression, timing, character interpretation, and the fundamentals of theatrical style for various genres (comedy, drama, musicals, etc.). Students should bring a lunch for the half-hour lunch break during each class. The lessons will culminate in a performance on Saturday April 16th of short skits and scenes by all the students. This class will emphasize methods for absorbing, understanding, retaining and delivering Elizabethan dialogue, interpreting and portraying character, essential aspects of movement and performance style, and the differences in various conventional approaches to Shakespeare production. The class culminates in a performance on Saturday April 16th of short scenes and monologues by all the students. In the course of the lessons, each student will master and polish a chosen monologue that they can use for future Shakespeare auditions.
