Supplemental Auditions for Troy Civic Theatre's "City of Angels"<br>

Supplemental auditions for Troy Civic Theatre's "City of Angels" will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 14, sign-in starting at 6:30 p.m., auditions at 7 p.m.), at the Arts Center for the Capital Region on River Street in Troy.
<br>

The show is directed by Joe Phillips, with Frank Leavitt as musical director. <br>
<br>
<br>
Performances Nov. 17-20 at the Meader Little Theater on the campus of Russell Sage College in Troy.
<br>
<br>
<br>
Principal roles for the show are already cast, but still seeking the following: <br>

Two singers, an alto and a tenor, for roles as part of the Angel City Four – a sort of "Greek chorus" for the soundtrack of the fictitious film-noir at the show's core – a scat-singing jazz-vocalese quartet in the mold of Manhattan Transfer or Lambert, Hendricks
and Ross. They appear throughout the show, and each need to have very clear pitch, very precise rhythm, must control their vibrato and tune well to each other in close harmony. They do a ton of singing in the show, including a vocalese Overture, and should

Other roles sought all sing a little in the finale and one other scene but are primarily non-musical:

WERNER KRIEGER, the character actor who plays iron-lung-bound billionaire Luther Kingsley.

GERALD PIERCE, the actor who plays Peter Kingsley, Alaura's boy-toy stud stepson.<br>
<br>

One of a mismatched pair of studio cops who double as in-the-movie goofball gangsters – specifically, weaselly little SONNY.
<br>
<br>
<br>
Two women, one ideally older (perhaps 30 and up), the other younger, and several men of various ages, who play a plethora of other parts, including several key speaking parts in the “film”: YAMATO the coroner, PASCO the cop, MAHONEY the studio flack, MARGIE
the brothel-keeper, BOOTSIE, one of her “girls”, and MARGARET the maid. Most also double as Hollywood characters and in a movie-set scene at the end.

An onstage piano-player who is ostensibly film score-composer DEL D'ACOSTA may be cast from the pit orchestra or from among these ensemble players.

Auditioners should prepare a brief musical piece, preferably traditional-Broadway or American songbook (Cole Porter?); and should be prepared to read from the script and participate in a brief movement audition. Please bring detailed schedule conflicts to auditions!
