<p class="MsoNormal">The five contest-winning plays will be professionally mounted on theREP’s stage, with costumes, props and a set designed and built by theREP’s production team. The Summer Stage Young Acting Company, a troupe comprised of up to 20 young
aspiring actors, will perform the plays - casting call for the Young Acting Company will follow the announcement of the Young Playwright Contest Winners.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In addition to the public<span style="color:#FF6600" class="">
</span>production of their plays, the five contest-winning playwrights will receive workshops with a professional playwright in the spring. During these mentorship sessions, the young playwrights will hone their script for production and sharpen their writing
skills. Mentors from past years include playwrights Christina Gorma, Aaron Jafferis (<i class="">Shakespeare the Remix</i>) and Suzanne Bradbeer (<i class="">The God Game
</i>and <i class="">Naked Influence).</i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Playwrights will also receive an invitation to the first read through of their plays by theREP’s Summer Stage Young Acting Company, and will be invited into the rehearsal room to be a part of the process – bringing their words to life,
from the page onto the stage.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b class=""><u class="">SUBMISSION GUIDELINES<o:p class=""></o:p></u></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">1. Playwrights must be at least 13 years old and no older than 19 years at the time of submission, and must reside within a 90-mile radius of Albany, NY.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">2. Plays must be no longer than 10-minutes in length. (Approximately 10-pages in length.)</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">3. Plays may have no more than 7 characters.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">4. Submissions must include the line: <b class=""><i class="">“And that was just the beginning.”</i></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">5. Submissions should include the Young Playwrights Application (found online at
<a href="http://www.capitalrep.org" class="">www.capitalrep.org</a>) and the script – both in digital format. </p>
