one of Shakespeare's earlier comedies, and focuses on themes of
masculine love and desire. The tale follows the King of Navarre and
three of his men (Berowne, Dumaine, Longaville) as they attempt to take
an oath to forswear the company of women. They devote themselves to
studying and fasting for three years. It becomes increasingly difficult
for them as the Princess of France and her ladies arrive, wishing to
