<strong>Theater Voices</strong> announces auditions for a staged reading of <em><strong>Agnes of God </strong></em>by John Pielmeier, directed by <strong>Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill</strong>, artistic director for the Capital Region's sole year-round professional theatre, theREP. <br>
<br>
<strong>Audition dates: </strong><br>
Sunday, Dec. 10, 7-9 p.m.<br>
Monday, Dec. 11, 7-7:30 p.m., with callbacks to follow immediately afterward.<br>
<br>
Auditions will be held at Steamer No. 10 Theatre, <a href="https://maps.google.com/?q=500+Western+Ave.,+Albany&entry=gmail&source=g">500 Western Ave., Albany</a>. Please arrive at 7 p.m. and be prepared to stay. Audition sides from the script will be provided. Actors will be asked to read scenes from the play.<br>

<strong>Performance dates:</strong><br>
Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at 3 p.m. (open rehearsal/performance)<br>
Friday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m.<br>
Saturday, Feb. 17, at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.<br>
Sunday, Feb. 18, at 3 p.m. <br>
Actors must be available for all performance dates.<br>

<strong>Available parts:</strong><br>
<br>
<strong>Agnes: </strong>Early 20s, or able to play that age range. Slightly other-worldly -- or is it that she hears what others cannot? Agnes is a study in contradictions; she possesses a sweetness but can also be completely forthright at times. She is guided by God and "love," always. Agnes has a pure soprano voice and sings several songs of the liturgy throughout the play. NOTE: While it is <em>not </em>essential for the actress to sing, those auditioning are encouraged to bring a prepared hymn to sing a cappella. <br>
<br>
<strong>Mother Miriam Ruth: </strong>Age 50+. Worldly, earthy, nobody's fool. Her sense of humor is evident from her first line. She knows and understands sinners because she is one. Previously married and a heavy smoker, she came to her calling late. Passionately protective. <br>
<br>
The role of <strong>Doctor Martha Livingstone</strong> has been cast.<br>
<br>
<strong>Play synopsis:</strong><br>
Summoned to a convent, Dr. Martha Livingstone, a court-appointed psychiatrist, is charged with assessing the sanity of a novice accused of murdering her newborn. Miriam Ruth, the Mother Superior, determinedly keeps young Agnes from the doctor, arousing Livingstone's suspicions. With Agnes claiming a virgin conception and having no memory of giving birth, Livingstone's questions force all three women to re-examine the meaning of faith and the power of love -- leading to a dramatic, compelling climax.<br>
