Confetti Stage is excited to announce auditions for Qui Nguyen’s “She Kills Monsters”! Directed by Sean T. Baldwin, assisted by Marissa Lounello.

Agnes Evans is a completely average woman who strives to be nothing but average until the day she wishes her life was a little less boring. Her wish unfortunately comes true when her family, including her younger sister Tilly, dies in a car crash. Agnes was never close to Tilly due to the fact they were interested in completely different things; Agnes loved mainstream pop culture, while Tilly had a passion for everything classified as nerdy or geeky, with a special love for Dungeons and Dragons. As Agnes is cleaning and packing Tilly's room in order to move everything to her place, she finds a module Tilly had written for D&D. In order to get closer to the sister she never really knew, Agnes embarks on her own adventure with the help of Dungeon Master Chuck to play the game as Tilly designed. As she delves deeper into her quest, the fantasy world and reality begin to collide and mix as Agnes searches to connect with Tilly and realizes how much of her sister she never knew.

Please note that while characters may be teenagers, they will be played by actors 17 and older.

The following roles are open for casting:

Tilly Evans/ Tillius the Paladin – A nerdy tomboy in real life who is obsessed with Dungeons and Dragons, she is famous among the geek crowd at her school. In the world of D&D, she’s a level 20 Paladin, Healer of wounds and protector of lights; aka not to be messed with. She’s spunky, powerful, agile and brings a young energy and fresh spirit.

Agnes Evans – Tilly’s older sister. At first an average girl, of average height, of average weight, and average build. Has no knowledge of the DnD culture. A former cheerleader turned teacher who discovers her late sister’s DnD campaign and dives into it with a thirst to find some connection to and closure from her late sister.

Chuck – A dorky freshmen, outspoken but self-aware nerd who loves the “Grunge Rocker roadie” look, a D&D enthusiast, also goes by the name “DM Biggs”. He is employed at the local game store and is a Dungeon Master who knew Tilly during her life. He acts the Dungeon Master for the game Agnes plays.

Miles – Agnes’ boyfriend, not at all into “nerd culture”. He tries very hard. He’s just your average square kinda guy who can come off as being very frat. He genuinely loves Agnes and is a caring guy.

Lilith Morningstar/Lily – Her DnD Character class: Demon Queen. Acts as her party’s muscle. Has probably been alive for eternity. Tilly’s girlfriend. Also very sarcastic, serious and self-aware.

Kaliope Darkwalker /Kelly – Her DnD Character is a Dark Elf. Acts as the party’s master tracker, lock picker, magic-user, and all-around elven ass-kicker. She’s athletic, a waywatcher and navigator. Very analytical. She gives off earthy vibes. Ronnie is her older brother.

Orcus/Ronnie – His DnD character is a red demon. Has probably been alive for eternity. Former Overlord of the Underworld and current couch potato. If there’s a lost soul, he’ll either have it or at least know where it is. He’s the comedic relief of the party.

Steve – Character Class: Mage. Adventurer supreme. He is dorky both in D&D and the real world.

A single actor plays the following three roles:
Farrah – A little forest faerie. Appears very young. She’s adorable, but she’s actually an angry savage in a small package. Must have some form of character voice.
Evil Gabbi – Evil succubi cheerleader and a great dancer. Tilly’s vision of pure evil; the epitome of fake-nice preppy girl. She appears as normal a cheerleader that tormented Tilly as well as a succubi cheerleader in the D&D game.
Narrator – The story’s narrator. Has an air of Cate Blanchett’s Galadriel with the dry wit of Allison Janney.

A single actor plays the following two roles:
Vera/ The Beholder – Agnes’s best friend and coworker. A guidance counselor with questionable advice.
Evil Tina – Evil succubi cheerleader and a great dancer. Tilly’s vision of pure evil; the epitome of fake-nice preppy girl. She appears as normal a cheerleader that tormented Tilly as well as a succubi cheerleader in the D&D game.

All cast members play various ensemble roles throughout the play.

Auditions will be held on December 12 and 13 at 7:00 PM at the Albany Masonic Temple, 67 Corning Place, Albany, NY 12207.
