Schenectady Civic Players present the holiday classic:
A Christmas Story.
The outrageously popular and endearing family movie comes to life on stage.
The story of Ralphie Parker's quest for the "Holy Grail of Christmas presents" - a genuine Red Ryder 200 Shot Carbine Action Air BB gun - has become a holiday movie tradition, capturing the hearts of millions of families across America. Schenectady Civic Players continues to celebrate its 80th season with this tribute to the traditional, 100% red-blooded, All-American Christmas to the stage. Written by Philip Grecian, directed by Debbie May, and based on the touching film written by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown and Bob Clark, A Christmas Story is ideal family fare for the holidays! This fun-filled family Yuletide tradition runs December 7 thru 9 and December 12 - 16, 2007, at The Schenectady Civic Playhouse, 12 South Church Street in downtown Schenectady, NY.
Tickets may be purchased to A Christmas Story by calling The Playhouse at (518) 382-2081 or online at www.civicplayers.org.
A Christmas Story recounts the hilarious tale of the Parker family's Christmas in the 1940's when nine-year-old Ralphie (played by Jacob Nuding) had nothing on his mind but getting a Red Ryder BB gun. No self-respecting cowboy would have been without one. Like the movie, the play is narrated by the adult Ralph Parker (played by Jeff Nuding - who is Jacob's dad offstage), as he reminisces about his past and weaves together stories from his family, school and a visit to Santa at the Goldblatt's Department Store. Recounting the reactions from his mom (played by Playhouse veteran actress Susan Katz), teacher and even the department store Santa Claus, as they share the same sentiment to his Christmas wish, "You'll shoot your eye out!" A Christmas Story is a nostalgic journey to simpler times and a joyous reminder of the delights of family, friendship and the pursuit of the perfect Christmas present.
The production is directed by Debbie May features local actors Jeff Nuding, Jacob Nuding, Susan Katz, David Edward Campbell, Bobby Ruggles, Claudia Bertasso, Joseph ("Joey") Krisciunas, Giordano Wagner, Chloe Bellcourt, Sera Torres, Ben Conde, Michael Camelo, Charles Clew, Kyle Combs, John Birchler, .Zabrina Clew, MorganMcFadden, Abbey Naumowicz and Lindsey Tremblay.
A Christmas Story will take place December 7 - 9 and 12 - 16 , 2007. Performance time is 8pm with December 9th and 16th performances beginning at 2:30pm. Ticket prices are $15. The theater is located at 12 So. Church St., in Schenectady's historic Stockade District - one block off of State Street. For further information and to purchase tickets, pleases call 518-382-2081.
