AUDITIONS ANONYMOUS


Spotlight Players will be holding an audition workshop on Saturday, October 20, 2007 from 12 noon until 4pm.  This four-hour intensive workshop will provide actors with honest and constructive feedback to help maximize their audition skills. 

Four acclaimed area directors and a top-notch choreographer are participating in mock auditions, where participants will “try out for” for 2 musicals and a straight play.  
Years of experience watching talented people use less-than-deal audition skills led Spotlight Players to develop this timely workshop.

The participating directors and choreographer have years of performance and directing experience in the Capital Region and beyond.  Directors Eric Shovah and Michael C. Mensching will be directing the musical portion of the program, with Shovah directing Once Upon a Mattress, and Mensching tackling Into the Woods, Spotlight Players’ planned production for Summer 2008.  Heather D’Arcy, an esteemed choreographer and performer, will teach Dance Audition 101, helping ease people’s fears of dance auditions for musicals.  Laura W. Andruski takes the dramatic route with The Lion in Winter.  To round out the program, Shawn Hahn will instruct participants how to create an effective resume and how to present yourself for an audition, head to toe.

The cost for this workshop is $30 for members of Spotlight Players, or $35 for non-members.  Annual membership to Spotlight Players is $10, and entitles you to discounted workshops and tickets, access to company-sponsored events such as bus trips to NYC and parties.
