Theater Voices announces the first show of its
20th Season Anniversary
Theater Voices of Albany will offer its first production of
the 2007-2008 season, EMBRACEABLE ME by Victor L. Cahn, as part of
its 20th Season Anniversary Celebration.
Performances of EMBRACEABLE ME will be given at Steamer No. 10
Theater, 500 Western Avenue in Albany, on Friday, October 12 at 8:00
PM; Saturday, October 13 at 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM; and Sunday, October
14 at 3:00 PM. Admission is free.
In this charming romance, Allison and Edward share a twenty-
year relationship that has ranged from comic to stormy to touching.
Since the pair first met in college, their mutual attraction has been
thwarted by their own confirmed idiosyncrasies. Yet they cannot
remain apart. During the play, they alternate between past and
present, reliving important episodes while explaining their feelings
both to the audience and to each other. Their story is ultimately a
passionate, yet witty, struggle by two people to resolve the most
important relationship in their lives.
EMBRACEABLE ME premiered with Theater Voices in 1998, then
was produced at Albany Civic Theater and other local venues, and
finally was presented Off-Broadway in 2001.
The production will be directed by Edward Noel Wilson. The
cast includes Cahn and Jill Swingruber-Sprotbery.
Theater Voices of Albany is a group of dedicated
actors and directors, who, throughout the company's history, have
presented both new and classic works, with the specific goal of
emphasizing the richness of the playwrights' language. Each
production is a fully performed staged reading, but with minimal
scenery and simple costumes.
