Hello Capital Distrcit Theater Community! My colleagues from the Mountain View Group, Jim and Maureen Tusty, have made an extraordinary film called "The Singing Revloution", and it will be making it's regional debut beginning March 21st at the Spectrum Theater in Albany. Details are below, and I strongly urge anyone to whom music is a vital part of life to check out this film - it's incredibly moving and amazingly true. Check out the NY Times review at the link below.
'Hope to see you there! Melissa Lacijan

MOST PEOPLE DON’T THINK ABOUT SINGING WHEN THEY THINK OF REVOLUTIONS, but in Estonia song was the weapon of choice when, between 1987 and 1991, hundreds of thousands of Estonian people gathered to sing forbidden patriotic songs and rally for independence, risking their lives to proclaim their desire for a free country.

The Singing Revolution is a documentary film that tells the extraordinary story
of the non-violent path Estonia took to free itself from Soviet occupation.
You can watch the trailer by going to www.singingrevolution.com.
The Singing Revolution opened in LA and NYC in December, and now Albany (the filmmakers’ hometown) kicks off the film’s release in theaters around the country.

In the words of The New York Times:
"Can singing change history? 'The Singing Revolution' shows that it already has."

The New York Times made the film a "NYT Critics' Pick", to read the full review go to:
