University of Notre Dame Glee Club to Visit Capital Region
Performing with The Mendelssohn Club of Albany

DELMAR, NY (10/08/2008; 0802)(readMedia)-- The University of Notre
Dame Glee Club and The Mendelssohn Club of Albany announced today that
they will perform together on Sunday, October 19 as part of the Glee
Club's Fall Tour. The concert is sponsored by the Notre Dame Club of
Northeastern New York and will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the East
Auditorium at Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park.

Under the direction of Daniel C. Stowe, the University of Notre Dame
Glee Club is one of the of the most renowned all-male choruses in the
United States. The concert will feature a program of a cappella works
surveying a broad musical range from Medieval works to contemporary
compositions for male chorus.

"Each performance is always filled with variety that highlights the
Glee Club's scholasticism, musicianship, and dynamic control as an
ensemble," said Stowe. "We want our audiences to receive an
educational experience as well."
The program will feature pieces from the Renaissance, Classical, and
Romantic eras. A Glee Club signature piece -- Franz Biebl's "Ave
Maria" for double men's chorus -- will be performed with The
Mendelssohn Club of Albany. The program also includes Irish and
Brazilian folk songs, barbershop tunes, and African-American
spirituals.
Under the direction of Dr. Victor Klimash, The Mendelssohn Club of
Albany will sing selected pieces with the University of Notre Dame
Glee Club, and will perform several pieces as part of the concert
program.
"We are thrilled to join with the University of Notre Dame Glee Club,"
said Mendelssohn Club president Michael Palumbo. "This concert will be
a great experience for our club as well as an opportunity for
residents of the Capital Region to hear some wonderful choral music."

Advance tickets for adults and students may be purchased by Sunday,
October 12 for $10 and $7, respectively by calling 518-489-0051 or

the door for $12 (adults) and $8 (students). Student prices apply to

About the University of Notre Dame Glee Club: The Glee Club continues
in its ninety-fourth year having traveled during the Summer of 2007 on
a tour of Europe, presenting concerts in Italy, Austria, the Czech
Republic, Germany, Switzerland, France, and Ireland. Previous

About The Mendelssohn Club: A Capital Region tradition since 1909, the
75-voice male chorus is the area's longest continuously performing
arts group. The Club is composed of men from the Capital District,
Hudson Valley and Berkshire regions, and performs a full range of male
choral selections from around the world. The Mendelssohn Club is
conducted by Dr. Victor Klimash. A faculty member at Union College,
Dr. Klimash holds a Doctor of Music in Voice from Florida State
University, and a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Voice from The
Eastman School of Music. Pianist Michael Clement serves as the Club's
accompanist. Mr. Clement was trained at the Eastman School of Music,
the University of Arizona, and the University of Southern California.
