The Delta Xi Cast of Alpha Psi Omega, the National  Theater Honor Fraternity at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, presents David Auburn’s PROOF on September 12 & 13 and 18-20 at 8:00pm in the RPI Playhouse, 15th Street (South of Sage  Avenue), Troy, NY.  Admission is $10; $5 for students and seniors.  For reservations call (518) 276-6503.

Recently, PROOF was adjudicated by the Theater Association of New York State (TANYS) and received three Roving Adjudicator Merit Awards. The adjudicator's comments follow the award listings below.

Meritorious Achievement in Ensemble Work to Don Wheeler, Sarah Wasserbach, Glenn Alkinburgh and Lori Snow

Meritorious Achievement in Direction to John Birchler

Meritorious Achievement in Scenic Design  to Melissa Schroyer

Comments:  Solid performances, a good workable set and appropriate lighting, all added to the mood and concept making this an enjoyable and rewarding evening. The timing and pace of the show created more of an upbeat approach rather than making this a depressing night at the theater. All the actors had an opportunity to explore the many levels of emotion which added life to their characters.  The director used  the many levels of acting areas very well creating memorable stage pictures.

There are three (3) separate categories of Merit Awards as follows:
"Outstanding" - To be issued to the whole or part of the whole of a theatrical event or production of a superlative quality rarely witnessed or experienced by the adjudicat
or.
"Excellence" - To be issued to the whole or part of the whole of a theatrical event or production considered by the adjudicator to be of exceptional merit surpassing the norm.
"Meritorious Achievement" - To be issued to the whole or part of the whole of a theatrical event or production considered by the adjudicator to be worthy of special recognition.

The 2008 TANYS Festival will be November 21, 22 and 23 at the Stuart Steiner Theater, Genesee Center for the Arts in Batavia, New York.  Formal presentations of these awards will be held on Saturday, November 22nd, during the TANYS Festival Awards Banquet.  Contact Michael Arve, Festival Chair at michaelarve at yahoo.com for more information.
