Theater Voices will present a staged reading of THE BEST MAN by Gore  
Vidal, directed by Chris Foster


Performances of THE BEST MAN by Gore Vidal, the first production of  
Theater Voices' 2008-2009 season, will be given at Steamer No. 10  
Theatre, 500 Western Avenue in Albany, on Friday, October 17 at 8:00  
PM; Saturday, October 18 at 3:00PM and 8:00 PM; and Sunday, October  
19 at 3:00 PM. Admission is free.
Set at a political convention during the 1960’s, this witty drama  
offers characters and themes that resound as powerfully today as they  
did more than forty years ago. Here two strong but flawed candidates  
vie for their party’s Presidential nomination, and as both seek the  
endorsement of the former Chief Executive, tensions increase, as does  
the pressure to win at any cost. Meanwhile the ruthless competition  
is spiced with characteristic Vidal humor and sophistication.

The cast for THE BEST MAN includes Barry Corlew, Carol King, Morton  
Hess, Patrick White,  Kathleen Carey, Andrea Valenti, Jim Leonard,  
Bonnie Williams, Gil Spevack and Matt Macarevey.
