Troy, NY - April 4, 2009 - The RPI Players are presenting their spring
musical, Assassins, by Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman. Performances are
April 17, 18, 23, 24, 25 at 8PM and April 19 at 2PM and will be held in the
RPI Playhouse on 15th Street.


Assassins is directed by John Peterson and the musical director is Franklin
Leavitt.



Assassins is a musical that explores the motives and circumstances
surrounding noted presidential assassins and would-be presidential assassins
throughout the course of U.S. History. The show begins with the premise of a
shooting gallery at a carnival, encouraged by a Proprietor to "shoot a
president" because "everybody's got the right to their dreams". With a
guiding and taunting Balladeer (effectively the narrator), each assassin is
spotlighted in a sympathetic, horrifying, and comical light making Assassins
one of the more intriguing and introspective musicals in recent history.
Join the RPI Players and their presentation and exploration of the dark side
of the American Dream.


A special talk-back will be held after the Sunday matinee on April 19th with
the actors and members of the production team.
Additionally, a "Buy One, Get One Free" deal will be offered. If you buy a
ticket for a performance, you can use the ticket stub to have free admission
with the purchase of a friend's ticket for a future performance (excluding
the performances on Friday April 24 and Saturday April 25).




The RPI Players is a student run community theater.  While RPI students are
the primary participants in the organization, auditions and production roles
are open to all community members.
