MURDERERS! Opens Friday
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A killer of a comedy, Jeffrey Hatcher's Murderers opens this Friday night, January 30th at 8 pm and runs to Sunday, February 8 with the final matinee at 2:30. The murderers of the play are "as delightful a group of killers as one is likely to encounter."
After the first show, join us downstairs in the green room for a champagne toast and dessert reception where we will relive some memories and bid a fitting farewell to our director, who is moving to Florida.
A Florida murder setting
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Set in the Riddle Keys Estates, a Florida retirement community, Murderers is a dark comedy that explores three individuals' stories and perspectives on the crime(s), specifically murder, they have committed. As one character says in the play, "Killing can be habit-forming because once you do it, it just gets easier and easier - like bicycle riding or sex."
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased via our website at www.civicplayers.org or over the telephone by calling 382-2081.

Farewell Reception for Barry Corlew and Bonnie Williams - January 30, 2009 at SCP
The Schenectady Civic Players would like to celebrate the contributions of Barry and Bonnie to the Capital District Arts Community at a reception on January 30, 2009 to be held after the opening night performance of Murderers at Schenectady Civic Players located in the historic Stockade at 12 South Church Street, Schenectady. Murderers is Barry's most recent, and last, directing project before the happy couple migrates south to Florida and continual warmth!
If you are unable to attend the event and would like to send your well wishes or share a story about Barry and/or Bonnie, please send any email correspondence to Tom Heckert at Tomh823 at aol.com. Cards can be sent to Bonnie and Barry care of Schenectady Civic Players, 12 South Church Street, Schenectady, NY 12305.
Murderers features Randy McConnaugh as Gerald Halverson in "The Man who Married His Mother-in-Law", because she's dying and it makes a $5 million inheritance easier. Scene two is "Margaret Faydle Comes to Town" with Pat Brady as jealous Lucy Stickler, long-suffering wife with a plan to rid the world of her two-timing husband and his one time flame.
And everyone gets a comeuppance in the final scene, "Match Wits with Minka Lupino." Jean T. Carney (who is a public defender in real life) plays Minka, friendly receptionist of the Riddle Key "seasoned citizens" facility. Her mission is to rid Riddle Key of those who prey upon helpless senior citizens until a famous mystery writer retires and she meets her match.
"MURDERERS" is directed by Barry Corlew
