AN EVENING OF PERFORMANCE
Produced by Jim Holmes

This is the RPI Players’ annual night of one-act plays. This year
will feature:

THE REAL INSPECTOR HOUND
Written by Tom Stoppard
Directed by Ian Keyworth, Co-Directed by Bria Schultz

Tom Stoppard's "The Real Inspector Hound" follows two critics,
Birdboot and Moon, as they watch a run of the mill mansion-murder-
mystery: a play within the play. Eventually, the critics become a
part of the puzzle and all the ridiculous pieces fall into place by
the end. Stoppard skillfully weaves the lives and thoughts of the
critics between and into the happenings of the play on stage, poking
fun at both theater and those who watch it, while breaking the fourth
wall at every turn.

INCIDENT BLOTTER
Written by Chris Guyon
Directed by Chris Guyon

Ripped from the headlines of the Polytechnic. This show written and
directed by RPI Player's own Chris Guyon portrays a comedic view of
text of the Poly's weekly incident blotter.

THE BALD SOPRANO
Written by Eugene Ionesco
Directed by Jeff Matthews

The Smiths are a traditional couple from London, who have invited
another couple, the Martins, over for a visit. They are joined later
by the Smiths' maid, Mary, and the local fire chief, who is also a
friend and possibly former lover of Mary's. The two families engage
in meaningless banter, telling stories and relating nonsensical
poems. Mrs. Martin at one point converses with her husband as if he
were a stranger she just met. As the fire chief turns to leave, he
mentions "the bald soprano" in passing, which has a very unsettling
effect on the others. Mrs Smith replies that "she always wears her
hair in the same style."

The RPI Players is a student run community theatre. While RPI
students are the primary participants in the organization, auditions
and production roles are open to all community members.
