‘Prospect Trace’ will complete CLT New Play Festival
JOHNSTOWN --- Colonial Little Theatre will conclude its 2009 New Play Festival on Dec. 4 and 5 with the premiere staged reading of “Prospect Trace,” a drama with comic overtones by Serge Patentreger of Albany.
The two-act play will be presented at 8 p.m. at the 1 Colonial Court playhouse. For directions to the theatre, access the CLT website, www.coloniallittletheatre.org. A $5 donation is suggested. For further in formation: Wally Truesdell, 725-3886, or wtruesdell at nycap.rr.com.
“Prospect Trace” is set in a boarding house in Brooklyn in the sixties. Mary Longo runs Prospect Trace with the help of Abner, her loyal and trusted jack of all trades. The boarders are a varied lot, including Edward, a disillusioned war veteran, and Emily, an elderly lady who believes she is the Queen of England and expects to be treated as such. Ezra, an optimistic young student, studies the whole scene as if it were part of the play he’s writing. Ronnie is Mary’s lover and the object of suspicion and scorn by the other boarders.
The arrival of a new boarder, Rachel, a pretty young woman, drastically alters the dynamic of Prospect Trace. Tensions, quietly simmering for a long time, now rise to the surface.
Mary, faced by new realities, is forced to choose between her love for Ronnie and loyalty to her other tenants. Ronnie’s reckless behavior and Emily’s innocent actions bring the conflict to a head and contribute to its resolution.
The cast includes: Linda Sova as Mary; Michael Terrell as Ronnie; Bob Scheldt as Edward; Pam Broiles as Rachel; Roz Melita as Emily; Richard Romano as Ezra, and Homer Charbonneau as Abner.
	The director is Cheryl Charbonneau.
The producer is Theatre Workshop, the CLT playwrights group.
The New Play Festival began Nov. 13 and 14 with “Past and Present Tense” by Richard Romano of Saratoga Springs, and continued Nov. 20 and 21 with “Getting the Business” by Victor L. Cahn of Saratoga Springs.
