Jackie McGee falls asleep in history class and "wakes up" in a dream to find

her history teacher leading her through the history of the Erie Canal.

Steamer No.10 Theatre has toured Clinton's Ditch to schools and theatres
across New York State and the region for 14 years since its debut in January
of 1997. This year's production features a new set as well as new cast
members.

Clinton's Ditch is an hour-long production with music that brings 200 years
of Erie Canal history to life. It covers the need for a canal, debate over
building it, construction, the opening celebration - The Wedding of the
Waters, and life on the canal. The show explores the waterway that opened
the American West to trade and settlement, securing New York City's position
as dominate port-of-entry for the East Coast of the United States and the
nation's financial capital.

Cast includes: Suzie Dunn as the teacher - Mrs. Rose; Nicole Plyem as Jackie
McGee; Robert Rice as DeWitt Clinton; Heidi Nathanielsz as Siobhan. The
show is written and directed by Ric Chesser
