Nacre is looking forward to two very exciting concerts to benefit two very special organizations!  We appreciate any help you can give us in promoting these events.

Nacre Dance Company Performs afternoon of Modern Dance to benefit 

The Universal Preservation Hall

 

Saratoga Springs, NY - Nacre, the capital district's newest dance performance organization will present an afternoon of dance at the Universal Preservation Hall on Sunday, May 2nd at 2pm.  

The afternoon will showcase the first movements spoken by modern dance founder, Isadora Duncan, shapes inspired by the painting and sculptures of Michelangelo in Danny Grossman's "Ecce Etude" and the celebration of our nation's bicentennial with the 1976 creation of May O'Donnell's "Pursuit of Happiness" set to big band musical selections. 

The program will also feature the work "Little Sparrow" created by Nacre's 2010 guest choreographer Rebecca Rabideau with live accompaniment by Jim Gaudet and the Railroad Boys whose music is steeped in the tradition of "Americana Roots Music." 

In celebration of the 200th birthday of classical composer Robert Schumann,  Nacre will present Doris Humphrey's 1920 "Soaring" highlighting billowing fabric suspended above the dancers. Other featured works include original works or works inspired by pioneering American modern dance choreographers Anna Sokolow, Jose Limon and Eleanor King.

Nacre Dance Company Performs at the Egg to Support Mother's in Need this Mother's Day 

 

Albany, NY - Nacre, the capital district's newest dance performance organization, will perform at The Egg on Saturday, May 8th at 2pm and 8pm.  

This concert will showcase the first movements spoken by modern dance founder, Isadora Duncan, shapes inspired by the painting and sculptures of Michelangelo in Danny Grossman's "Ecce Etude" and the celebration of our nation's bicentennial with the 1976 creation of May O'Donnell's "Pursuit of Happiness" set to big band musical selections. 

The program will also feature the work "Little Sparrow" created by Nacre's 2010 guest choreographer Rebecca Rabideau with live accompaniment by Jim Gaudet and the Railroad Boys whose music is steeped in the tradition of "Americana Roots Music." 

Additional musical highlights include area pianist Barbara Musial and mezzo-soprano soloist Kara Cornell as they accompany dancers in the "Limon Etude" with movement inspired by the legendary choreographer José Limón set to the music of Schubert. 

In celebration of the 200th birthday of classical composer Robert Schumann, Nacre will present Doris Humphrey's 1920 "Soaring" highlighting billowing fabric suspended above the dancers. Other original works include Anna Sokolow's "Session for Six" in celebration of her 100th birthday and Eleanor King's "Moon Dances" performed by area dancer Marybeth Cole Hampshire.
