Troy, NY - April 20 2009 - The RPI Players are presenting their spring
musical, *Urinetown*, by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann. Performances are
April 23, 24, 29, 30 and May 1 at 8PM and April 25 at 2PM, and will be
held in the RPI Playhouse on 15th Street.

*Urinetown *is directed by Matthew T. Teichner, with musical direction by
Franklin R. Leavitt, and choreography by Trish Scott.

One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, URINETOWN
(music by Mark Hollman; lyrics by Mark Hollman & Greg Kotis; book by
Greg Kotis) is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution
in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a Gotham-like city,
a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a
government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public
amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by
charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the
people, a hero decides he’s had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them
all to freedom! Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill,
URINETOWN is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe
from scrutiny. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical
could be, URINETOWN catapults the “comedic romp” into the new
millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit, and
sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter.

All tickets for the 2PM matinee on Sunday, April 25 will be sold
for $1.00 lower than standard price.

The RPI Players is a student run community theater. While RPI students are
the primary participants in the organization, auditions and production roles
are open to all community members.
