WANDA'S VISIT(Cast: 3m, 2f, 1s)
Written by Christopher Durang
Directed by Daren Domingos
An unhappily married couple have their relationship rocked by an
obtrusive, uninvited guest in the form of the husband's high school
sweetheart, Wanda. Wanda turns the couple's stagnant life upside down
while nearly driving them insane. As the play progresses, Wanda's social
Faux pas and abrasive personality make the couple almost relieved when
she is kidnapped by two men directed by her kingpin ex-boyfriend.
WINTER FRUIT (Cast: 3m, 2f)
Written by Allison Menzimer
Directed by Samantha Malanche
Winner of the 2008 Kennedy Center Theater for Young Audiences
Playwriting award, /Winter Fruit/ is a modernized re-telling of the
Greek tale of Persephone's abduction to the Underworld. After being
ripped from a familiar life of grass, music, the moon and a lover,
Persephone befriends two of Hades' servants who attempt to aid her
return to home "above". However, her imprisonment and resignation to
being an ill-made queen fades her memory and Persephone's perception of
what is "home" may very well change for good.
ARTIST DESCENDING A STAIRCASE (Cast: 6m, 1f)
Written by Tom Stoppard
Directed by Tom Kinstrey
Tom Stoppard's Artist Descending a Staircase is a comedic murder mystery
focusing on three artists. When Beauchamp and Martello come home to find
that their lifelong friend and colleague, Donner, has mysteriously
fallen down a staircase to his death, the artists begin a series of
flashbacks that uncover the truth behind their careers in art, their
experiences with a beautiful young blind girl 50 years before, and the
events leading to Donner's death.
The RPI Players is a student run community theatre. While RPI students
are the primary participants in the organization, auditions and
production roles are open to all community members.
