SCHENECTADY CIVIC PLAYERS ANNOUNCES ITS 2010 - 2011 SEASON

Schenectady Civic Players, in continuous operation since 1928, for its upcoming 83rd season announces five plays for 2010-2011 main stage production at its 12 South Church Street playhouse in Schenectady's historic Stockade district.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Jeffrey Hatcher. Show Dates: October 15 - 17 and October 20 - 24, 2010. Directed by Richard Michael Roe. (Auditions: June 8 and 10, 2010.) In an intense new version of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tale, Jekyll confronts the many faces of the monstrous Mr. Hyde in a maze of interlocking scenes that attempt to answer the puzzles at the heart of a tortured soul.

Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie. Show Dates: December 3 - 5 and December 8 - 12, 2010. Directed by Duncan Morrison. (Auditions: September 14 and 16, 2010.) Ever since J.M. Barrie's beloved story first appeared in 1904, countless versions have been produced on stage and in film. Now, Schenectady Civic Players presents a brand-new adaptation, one that celebrates the joy of storytelling and the power of imagination.

Almost, Maine by John Cariani. Show Dates: January 28 - 30 and February 2 - 6, 2011. Directed by Donald Mealy. (Auditions: November 9 and 11, 2010.) On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the sky above, Almost's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways.

The Musical of Musicals (The Musical !) Music by Eric Rockwell, lyrics by Joanne Bogart, book by Eric Rockwell and Joanne Bogart. Show Dates: March 18 - March 20 and March 23 - 27, 2011. Directed by Joseph Fava, musical director Valerie Lord. (Auditions: January 4 and 6, 2011.) A witty and stylish satire, spoofing musical classics of the last 50 years from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Stephen Sondheim, and including Kander and Ebb, Jerry Herman and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesselring. Show Dates: May 6 - 8 and May 11 - 15, 2011. Directed by Randy McConnach. (Auditions March 1 and 3, 2011.) One of the theater's most endearing comedies, Joseph Kesselring's hilarious farce is an American classic. Meet Martha and Abby, a dangerous dynamic duo with a chilling sense of "charity", and an outrageously eclectic supporting cast in a magnificently macabre and madcap masterpiece.
