"PARADE", a dramatic musical that won Tony Awards in 1999 for its book and score, is the story of Brooklyn-born Leo Frank, a Jewish factory manager living in Georgia in 1913 who was unjustly accused, tried, and convicted for a crime in which he did not commit. From the press frenzy, to the intense public sentiments, to his loving wife's impassioned campaign for justice, this exquisite musical drama transports the audience back to a time when prejudice and hate too often prevailed.
Jason. Robert Brown's lyrics and score blends with Alfred Uhry's book to weave an exquisite spell that entertains as it educates, revisiting a shocking event that ultimately resulted in the formation of the Anti-Defamation League in 1913, the preeminent organization still fighting against bigotry and hatred in the country and abroad.
Spotlight Players Community Theater, recent winner of 11 Theater Association of New York State (http://www.tanys.org) is proud to be the first local theater to present "PARADE."
Tickets are FREE due to a grant from the Arts Center of the Capital Region for this production. (http://www.artcneteronline.org)
