An evening of new comedies to open CLT New Play Festival
JOHNSTOWN ---- Theatre Workshop, the Colonial Little Theatre playwrights group, has put together an evening of short plays it calls “Comedy Tonite!”
“Comedy Tonite!” will open the group’s 2010 New Play Festival.
The festival will be presented Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. and Nov. 19 and 20 at 8 p.m. at the 1 Colonial Court theatre.
An evening of staged readings of new plays by area authors will be presented Nov. 12 and 14. The plays are:
“The Letter Tree” by Jill Sprotbery. Agnes E. Kapusta-Skiff, director.
“The Holy Father Saves the Day” by Ron Frankel. Tim Orcutt, director.
“The Thirty-Ninth Year” by Anita Hanaburgh. Tim Orcutt, director, and
“The Waver” by Anthony R. Pezzula. Tim Orcutt, director.
The ensemble cast includes:
Rose Daly, Katelin Simpson, Matt MacArevey, Dave Insogna, Debbie Daly, Pam Broiles, Roz Melita, Bob Scheldt, Bill Hickman, Rocky Bonsal, Daniel B. Martin, Ryan McLaughlin, and Tim Orcutt.
The premiere staged reading in this country of “Hurricane Gin,” an adult comedy by Canadian-born playwright Carl Ritchie, will be presented Nov. 19 and 20. Director Leta Aldous announced the following cast:
Carol Russo, Roz Melita, Phil Carlson, Hannah Fettinger, and Don Wheeler.
